This is a strange one - I have seen similar problems mentioned in some Oracle forums concerning problems on Citrix but no mention of a fix

I have 2 identical Citrix Xpe FR3 W2k SP4 servers that have an application that uses an Oracle ODBC System DSN connection to connect to an Oracle database server

As of 2 weeks ago all users can only connect on ONE server now

On the other server they get an error

'40002: S0002 Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle ORA-00942'

The only people who can connect are Donmain Admins - so obviously looks likes a permissions issue

On the 2 Citrix boxes all the app folders have identical permissions

Its not profile related

I've recreated the System DSN - and tried using File DSN and User DSN

Other System DSNs are working on the box its just one that has stopped

Nothing in eventvwr

Its driving me nuts - any ideas welcome !!

Sorry forgot the end of the error message

'table or view does not exist'

1. Is the IMA Service running on the problematic Citrix Server.

2. Do you not have a good backup or image of the server that you cna restore?

3. What errors are in the Event log?

4. did you try running dscheck /clean on the Citrix Server that is not allowing logons

All the other apps work fine on this server - and they use other ODBC connections

Nothing in eventvr

But I'll try dscheck /clean

Thanks

Right I've tried installing the app on other servers and setting up the System DSN connection

And the same thing is happening - the users can only log into the app if they have Domain Admin rights !

I've tried adding the DSN using local admin rights - but no difference

Anyone got an idea of a way round this one !

Try running the app as a user whilst running filemon and regmon, they usually wii show up any permissions issues. Look for "ACCDEN" or "Access Den".

If the two servers are identical, why not just image the one that's working. I'm sure it's bugging you that you don't know why this happened, but you could figure that out after you have your system fully operational again.

Yes a last resort - cos everything else works fine on this server and its just this one annoying app

Its so weird that it won't work on a brand new server either.........

According to your first post, I was under the impression that they couldn't use any applications on the problematic server. If this is a single application problem, then regmon/filemon are the way to go.

All working now - didn't know that if you use Oracle 8i clients - permissions on the tnsname.ora and sqlnet.ora files are crucial.

Thanx for the contribution guys.

Way Hay, well done and thanks for posting the solution.
