Hello all,

I loaded Visual Studio . NET and Crystal reports. I was using ODBC with no problems through the Visual Studio.

I then went to install Ms-SQL server. I noticed when I went into Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> ODBC, that it lists my entries there, but I am missing the drivers it says now.

The DLL's are in the system32 directory still, but it's saying ODBC can not find the Drivers.

I can access the ODBC drivers fine within Visual Studio.NET - but I can not use the control panel Admin ODBC tool anymore.

I'm guessing that Visual Studio or Crystal install changed something in the registry to make the defaul ODBC source a different place, and copied all my ODBC drivers into a Visual Studio location.

Any help would be appreciated as I can not figure out how to fix this.

I have seen problems when Crystal REports (or other applications) have written unprintable characters to the ODBC registry section. These unprintable characters will prevent all of the ODBC drivers after it from being displayed.
Export your HKEY_LOCAL_SOFTWARE\Software\ODBC registry key (and all subkeys/values). Check for strange characters, remove them, save the REG file. Then delete the original HKEY_LOCAL_SOFTWARE\Software\ODBC registry key (and all subkeys/values). Merge the "fixed" REG file back into the registry (double click on it). I've seen that fix the problem you are seeing.
