I have a problem with a octel voicemail system. The problem being that it intermittingly does not notify users that they have an incoming voicemail until sometimes days later is there something that needs to be maintained to correct this problem?
Another question is on a definity G3 is there any way to disable ports that are no longer being used? so they can be recliamed. As with a Meridian system I inherited a G3 system that has all digital ports being used but, I believe quite alot of them are not being used due to moves adds and changes and lines pulled up into the ceiling

In regards to your problem w/ Octel not notifying users about their messages, this seems to happen fairly frequently between Octel and Definity G3. Here are the steps we follow...
1. Have user check their mailbox to make sure they don't have any new, unheard messages.
2. In Definity G3, type the command
CLEAR AMW ALL EXT
3. Send test voicemail message to user to make sure they receive the indicator (light or beep) that they have a new, unheard message.
Note: Sometimes these steps have to be repeated before the indicator starts working.

About the ports no longer in use, I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about. It sounds like equipment has been moved or removed without having tti-s/tti-m done or having the station form's port changed or the station removed. If that is what's happened, then you probably have a lot of warning alarms because the equipment is no longer where the switch thinks it should be. I'd start by cleaning those up. As you either remove the stations or make sure they are assigned to the correct port, you will start freeing up ports. When you run a LIST CONFIGURATION ALL, you'll see all your available ports marked by a "t". Hope this is on track with what you need and helpful.

thanks i appreciate the input it was very helpful

Or if you know that the port is not being used and there is no hardware connected to it, you can just go to "cha st xxx" and put in X for where it says the port number for instance if port 1B0810 is connected but there is no hardware connected to it and you need the port all you have to do is replace 1B0810 with an X.
Another is you can remove the station the reduplicate the it with another extenstion that has the same type of phone and configurations and rename the extension and you should have a new extension that is not connected to anything and just have to tti it in or tell what port to connect to.
Hope this helps.

I have a problem with my Octel equipment, last it has been blocked, it is to say the people cannot check its messages, it completes time I had to extinguish it completely to it so that it returned to give service, This is a problem of space in disc or another thing?
