I've read the Doktor's class on setting up single-digit menu's, but am still wondering...
How does the mailbox that was built for the single digit menu make the call? If I was setting up for the SD menu to dial an internal extension- no problem, but where does the cell number come into play?
thanks,
Hudson22

Hi Hudson

I guess that you have an OCTEL Serenade 200/300 installed?
To implement Single-Digit-Menues (SDM) for a mobile phone (cell phone), you need to use the speed dialling feature of your PBX.
Internal numbers to be used with SDM work alright with my descripitons, but you need to add COS attribute 30 to the COS for the speed dialling number to be able to reach the external cell phone (or aother external phones).

So basically:
Set up 5235 (users mlbx) to have a SDM to call for ex. 5001, when the caller presses 1 to be able to forward to 5235's cell ph.
Set up 5001 in the voicemail not to take messages, and add a 5001 station in the PBX to route to the 5235's cell ph.

Is there any feature bits that are needed for this? I've read a post with attributes 285 or 281 needed to be turned on for this to work.

Yes Octel 200 with Definity PBX.

No licenses are needed if you use the personal assistant of a standard user mailbox, i.e. callers need to press 0 (zero) to be transferred to the cell phone.
If you need to have the "press 1, 2 etc." feature, then an SDM license is needed.
What is "attributes 285 or 281" - are you speaking about system parameters?
The mail box that performs the SDM should not be able to take (record) messages. Use the COS attrib #1 to make it impossible to "take a message".
It will work alright...

I added a PA for the user wanting to have the option of letting callers 0 out to him. What attributes do you commonly use for this type of situation. I used 15, 25, 28, and 34.
thanks,
Hudson

Hi Hudson

This COS is what I use for a standard mailbox.
COS 5 (MAILBOX COS)
ATTRIBUTE
6 Call EXTENSION first BEFORE playing GREETING.
7 This user may send a PRIVATE message.
9 LAMP or DISPLAY PHONE message waiting.
11 NO system PROMPT after GREETING, go straight to recording.
12 This user may REPLY to ADDITIONAL addresses.
14 When GREETING is ON, MESSAGE WAITING will still CALL.
15 Transfer to a RINGING EXTENSION.
17 May send NETWORK messages IMMEDIATELY.
19 May request a RETURN RECEIPT message.
24 NEVER play NOVICE prompts.
28 May use OFFSITE or PAGER message waiting notification.
43 May RE-RECORD message after a busy or unanswered call.
48 May use AUTOMATIC MESSAGE COPY(FOLLOW-ME-FORWARD).
49 Automatically ERASE AUTO-COPIED(FOLLOW-ME-FORWARD) MESSAGES.
54 May specify a PERSONAL ASSISTANCE mailbox.
61 This mailbox may send FUTURE DELIVERY messages.
64 This user may ERASE a message during ADDRESSING OPTIONS.
69 SPEAK DIGITS entered to CONFIRM message address.
74 FORCE recording of MAILBOX GREETING.
76 Use NEW and SAVED/ARCHIVED MESSAGE queues.
77 ALLOW user to record PERSONAL NAME.
78 FORCE recording of PERSONAL NAME.
93 Allow USER to send an URGENT MESSAGE.
94 Allow CALLER to leave URGENT MESSAGE.
103 Allow NAMESCAN.
114 Enable extended absence greeting.
126 DO NOT speak "Greeting is on" prompt after LOGIN.
130 ACI: Allow Easy Access LOGON at greeting.
132 FORCED LOGON to Busy Mailbox.
133 Allow PLAYBACK SPEED control

Hope that you can use this!
S/w for the Serenade is 4.0.

Hi again

Most important is this "attribute":
54 May specify a PERSONAL ASSISTANCE mailbox.

This attr. will give you the option for personal assistance (option 165) in your mailbox.

OK,
I went a different route, but it still isn't working correctly.
Here is what I did.
x5555 is set up with a personal attendant...x4444.
In the CM, 4444 is a virtual extension and has a cov p to go to a remote cov. which calls a cell phone.

When I test it, I call the DID (x5555) and get his vm, I 0 out to get to the PA, that rings my test cell ph. The only issue is there is no talk path, dead air, cannot hear in either direction.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Hudson22

Add attribute 34 (blind transfer)
The attribute 54 (allow personal assisstance) is going to try and monitor the call so it can pull it back to allow the caller to leave amessage in the MB of the person they called not the PA.
Good luck

Oh yeah just in case you didn't know transfering out of the VM to a cell phone is a trunk to trunk transfer and not really the safest thing, some PBX/Key vendors will lock the feature down just because.
Good luck.

You should avoid attribute 34 (blind transfer)in cases like this. This is shown to me in several cases.

Doc, I don't beleive that the 200 will try and retain control of the call using the PA feature, and the blind transfer will release the call to the cell phone. I agree that if your on an older NEC switch att. 34 doesn't work, but I have seen this clear this type of issue more than once.
My 2 cents

Yes!, As you say the "54" is OK to do the PA job.
The attrib #34 was not used much by us.
This experience I got with the Ericsson (now Aastra) MD110 PBX.

Thanks for all the replies.
I do have attr 34 in the COS. Still doesn't have talk path.

COS 98 (MAILBOX COS) OUTCALL TO CELL
ATTRIBUTE
1 NO MESSAGES may be recorded for this mailbox.
6 Call EXTENSION first BEFORE playing GREETING.
15 Transfer to a RINGING EXTENSION.
25 May NOT LOGON to this mailbox/port.
28 May use OFFSITE or PAGER message waiting notification.
34 TRANSFER calls WITHOUT CHECKING for busy or no answer.
54 May specify a PERSONAL ASSISTANCE mailbox.

Found it in SYS parameter 149 was not set to Y.
Thanks for all the help.
Hudson22

This depends on your PBX. I use an Ericsson MD110.

The system parameter "149" is set to "NO" (ALLOW BLIND TRANSFER TO PERSONAL ASSISTANCE) in our system.
Instead we have set the sys par "85" to NONE instead of "F". Sys par 85 delas with "RECONNECT CODE AFTER 3RD PARTY HUNG-UP".

///doktor

Sorry!

Both system paramter should be set like this to have this facility to work with the Ericsson MD110:

The system parameter "149" is set to "YES" (ALLOW BLIND TRANSFER TO PERSONAL ASSISTANCE) in our system.
Instead we have set the sys par "85" to NONE instead of "F". Sys par 85 deals with "RECONNECT CODE AFTER 3RD PARTY HUNG-UP".
Then it will work, alright!
