HI ALL

trying to print out all users from the terminal because i need to make a migration.

tried printing the long list but all i get is a bunch of Xs and zeros.

anyone know what thats all about?

i dont know how to get or use an terminal emulator any tips on how to use?

If you use Hyperterminal with 9600 bits/s, 7 bits, one stopbit, EVEN parity, then it works allright.
Emulation should be VT100 (or TTY).
If you make a long printout (e.g. .l user or .l sys), then you should see the printout OK.

sounds good

altho i am new to this system

so all of that was greek to me

did sound like it would help me tho

where do i go about and get a VT100 or TTY

If you start up the Hyperterminal program on your Windows XP pc, then go to Files and then Settings.
In order to change Settings, you should have disconnected your session. To do this click on the picture of the phone with the handset lifted in the upper row.
The lower line of the Hypertermianl program will the say "disconnected".
Now go to Files and then Settings. In Setting you have 2 "folders". Click on the folder: Settings (to the right).
Here you can select the Emulation ANSI or TTY or VT100.
Just make your trials-and -errors and report back if it worked as it should.

oh wait i need a 56k modem...

will update further

Cedric!

You need a modem that can support Bell-mode.
The data speed is not so important.
You can use any speed but the build-in modem in the OCTEL can only run 1200 or 2400 bits/s.
So, check your manual and set the modem to "Bell mode", and use 7 bits, one stopbit, Even parity.

To dial-up use this way:
ATDTxxxxxx,,,,###5

where x is the OCTEL main number.
The commas give a delay of 1 second, and the
###5 starts up the modem in the OCTEl.
Try to call the OCTEL first from a phone and dial ###5 se hear the modem tone. Then your are shure that the modem in the OCTEL works as it should.
