I have an old Octel 3.0 Unified messenger server. I had to reload it recently, and now I can't get voice mail to work. When you call our main number the Octel greeting picks up. One of the options is to type in the extension number. The extension rings a few times and goes back to the Octel greeting. The greetings are recorded on Exchange 5.5. We are stumped. We are desperate. Anyone know Octel 3.0?

What kind of Dialogic or Brooktrout cards are you using for the PBX interface and what type of PBX is the UM 3.0 connected to? I am not sure if UM 3.0 has the Voice Mail System Configuration program, but you may need to start there to make sure the settings are still correct.

Hey JoeOctel....Help

I have an Octel 3.0 system and we had a power blip today that has caused the system to not reboot....any ideas?

Are you getting any erroes in the log? it sounds like the system does not know where the message store is ? i do not know much about the 3.0 system

I am using a Vantage PCI 8-l Voice card. It has 8 ports that connect to our Hicom 150 phone switch. The greetings are kept in the mailboxes on Exchange 5.5. And yes it does seem that Octel doesn't know where the Information store is. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I thought that in UM 3.0 you still have the Voicemail System Configuration program, which can set where the message store is at. The question is whether the UM 3.0 is not pointing to the message store or if the PBX integration is not correct and you are just getting played the "generic" greeting for everything. Check the PBX integration to make sure you still have the correct protocol setup on the Inband page( I am assuming that you are using the DTMF Inband Integration). You could also use the Event Viewer and see if that will give you more information on errors. Also the Operational History Viewer may give you and idea about integrations errors as well. Hopefully that is a starting point.

Joe I have some phone guys here and they found the problem. But it was exactly where you said it was. Inband.

Thanks for your help
