Hi all, hope you can help, I have a Octel 250, I don't know much about this unit, but lately I have been having problems with the unit, here is my problem: customers call from the outside and get the automated attendent, but the customer can not leave a message to mail boxs on the system, then, when the staff try and get there voicemail messages, they can't, also the Octel 250 will not let me communicate with it directly, I got into it by dialing it up on a modem, I set up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

What are the callers getting when they try to leave a message? What is the staff getting?
How are you trying to do the direct connect? Mine is a WYSE terminal connected to the console port on the front of the box. Not sure of the com set up but think it is 9600,8,n,1.

It sounds like the system may be full or some other problem.

Would need more info.

check the amount of storage on the hard drive(s) and how many you have. could be that a drive is bad or that a port card is bad. All depends on the set up too. What PBX are you interfacig with?

Thanks for the quick response, Here is what I can find out so far, VPMOD Serial # 13696.
(1.) Status Log Space Critical SA Threshold 010
(Note)It has always given me this Status Log Space Critical, ever since I started maintaining the 250.
(2.) Entry in Status Log-(NSA)- Count 147
(3.) Critical Entry in Status Log-(SA)- Count 054
I found where it stated Intergration Error.

Mail Boxes:
Voice Messaging: 500

Software Rel: Aria 03.00.09.09-1
No Faxes being used.
I found the following:

The Octel 250 is attcahed to a Nortel Meridian 1 61C,
(Note) Is there any Free Accounting Software out there anywhere, just to keep track of calls in out.

I have mine set up with a WYSE 50 Terminal, connected to the console port on the front of the box. The com 1 set up is,8,n,1 9600 Baud Rate. It has two Hard Drives.

I can tell you that the Octel 250 does have a phrase in it that
will play Messages can't be retrieved to a user.

Try running a port test and see if some ports are dead.

Please try to be as detailed as possible so we can try to help you.

Do you have a mailbox on the system? Does it work fine for you?

Are you sure all of your outside line are pointed to the Octel hunt group?

I do have a mailbox on the system, it did work but now it does not work, yes, all outside line are pointed to the octel, the octel answers all calls, but when the outside caller puts in the ext. they want, the octel states Please hold your call is being connected, if the staff is not at there desk, it just rings and rings and rings till the person on the outside gives up and hangs up, everything worked correctly a month ago, but now this problem, I'll run a port test and let you know what I find out.

If the phone rings and never goes to VM then it is the PBX that is not sending it. I would check the hunting on the EXT number of the users first.

Agreed about checking the FDN and HUNT on the Nortel. Sounds like something got changed there not in the Octel. How do you make changes to your Nortel? Who has access to make those changes?

Do you have a MerMail in the Nortel

Perfection is expected, Excellence is Tolerated

Hi All,
Don't have MerMail in the Nortel Meridian 1 61C, they would not purchase it, so I got stuck with the Octel 250, I am the one that makes all the changes in the PBX, and I checked the HTA, FNA they are set to go to Voicemail.
This is kinda hard to explain, so here we go, When I call from outside Line, the Octel auto attendent answers the call and I put in the Ext. I want, and it starts ringing and it will ring 4 times but it does not go to voicemail, but I can listen to the ringing and tell when it should transfer to the Octel, I can open the front door to the Octel and see the call locked to Octel when the auto attendent answers, after 2 rings it drops the lock in the Octel and keeps on ringing and I will hear where it should transfer the call to voicemail, but it doesn't. I'm lost for ideals on what to do with it.

If you call the ext from the inside does it roll to the Octel?

Look over the config notes below to check your setup. Not sure if you are using ACD or Linear hunting.

You may even have a DMID. if you can do a screen capture of menu 4 1 1 and post it

If your using an ACD integration I would check to make sure your ports are logged in and configured correctly. Make sure that you have sufficientports to answer the volume that you are getting. Too many ports set for MWI or pgr notification can cause the no answer issue.

If you are using an ACD integration most ports should be:
Y,N,Y,N,N,N,N

I have ten ports with: YNYN NN
I have one port(2A) with: YYYN NN
I have one port(2d) with: NNNY NN

Are these correct, I have a direct connect to the Octel, which is not working at this moment.

I have a dial up connection, which is how I'm talking to the Octel.
Thanks

Well it looks right but unless we see the menu 4 screen print it will be difficult to tell. What city are you in?
