Have a customer that wants us to maintain their 5-6 year old Octel for moves, adds, changes. They currently have an issue with the main greeting going to another greeting that they don't know how it got recorded...they want me to fix it. It is doing like a 'done chain' works on the Toshiba Stratagy voicemails. I can find nothing in the main mailbox that points in that type of direction. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

A done chain is where an instruction mailbox (ie.greeting) finishes and chains to another mailbox...

sounds like it is using a type 34 or type 35 mailbox to route the call. is the system using port monitoring ? can you post the profile of the mailbox you think has the greeting in it?

also you need to run a online CDR on an incoming call to trace where it is going

I'm not on site (will be on Monday), but I believe it is a Type 35 mailbox and not sure on the profile. I have done a port monitoring and it isn't showing all activity. It only shows ports being logged into by users. This issue began back in July when they recorded a closed message for the 4th. They can't seem to remember how or where they put it. I wonder if they recorded this in the 'Help Prompt' portion of the main greeting. Unfortunately, It doesn't allow for the listening of the recorded info just the oppotunity to re-record it.

If it is a type 35 there is a greeting in it and after the greeting plays it dumps the caller to the normal menu.

You have to get in the type 35 with the password and then delete the greeting and all calls will pass to the regular menu. The type 35 is a good way to put in a closed message without having to rerecord the main menu.

I called in this morning and heard that they had changed the greeting (they're closed today and Monday). Once the greeting had played I was sent to the zero out destination. I need to find out where they put this greeting as this is not how it has been working over the last few months. The main greeting is in mbx 9956 and this is where they had been changing it. I logged into that mbx and that's where I had heard the 'Record help prompt' within the greetings menu...is this the normal menu/greeting you are referring to? By the way, Thanks for all your help!

The CDR Utilities might also help you figure out which mailbox you are going to.

go to menu 20 and then look for the online cdr menu. then take #2 and set the start date as today and the start time as now

Then make a call and it will track where the call is going. you must make sure that CDR is turned on in menu 16 1 4

main greeting mbx is type 32. With greeting changed for holiday it is not playing the greeting referencing July 4th of last year. The recording contact is not here so I'm unable to check as to where she recorded this current greeting. I set the CDR utility up. Called into backdoor number and it showed the port answering, but not which mailbox was playing. It then transferred to the front desk, but again it showed nothing. I hung up and it hasn't shown the disconnect either. I did call in internally and it showed the answer(IC then TNE...by callee) and disconnect.

did you hear the greeting that they recorded? and do you have everything turned on in menu 16-1-4 for CDR to record.

you should see something like what I have below. 6000 is the main number for VM it then picks up with MB 3502 and in your case you would see it go to the main greeting MB in the next event.

If all else fails give me the modem number and password and i can tell you what mailbox it is.
