Is there a class that I could take to Modify or Maintain Visual Messenger. We had the system installed last year when we had a Nortel 81 Option C switch installed. We have not actively used it until now.
My I.S. Manager wants to know if you can be notified by e-mail that voice message has been received.
Any info would be appreciated.

Are you sure this is a 250?, an Octel Aria?

If it's a Serenade, then yes, it can notify you by Email, and you can retrieve (listen, reply, forward, delete etc) thro' your PC. A little further software and tweaking can also give SMS mobile notification too.

Need to know what type of Octel you have and if you have an OAS server also what software level you have on both. With just the visual messenger you do not get an email but we have a software pack that will load on the OAS server and then it can notify you and send the voicemail to your email in the form of a wave file.

but what is the software level on the 250 and the OAS server that runs visual messenger

Octel Sytem - Version 3.11.05-1
OAS - Version 5.00.2195.6601

thanks

the onlt thing i know of is to install EVM on the OAS server and that will give you email access for the voicemails

it is a program that we sell that sends the an email to upto 3 email's and then it will pull the voicemail from the octel and convert it to a wave file and email the message to you

KenMeans,

Do you have an internet site with information about the EVM software? Would like to get more information about it.

our web site is a mess right now i will see what i can get for you.

I may be able to set you up a demo account on our system

EVM for Octel monitors your voicemail box and takes action based on the rules you have set.

Away from your phone? This is your message waiting notification, when and where you need it.
Just like a message waiting light, except the application generates an email notification to any electronic address you specify.
Send notifications to a desktop location, wireless PDA or your digital cell phone.
Saves time and money by eliminating the constant need to check for new messages.

If you go to mutare.com you will get more info

Avaya Octel Access Server and Visual Messenger do not integrate with Exchange or Outlook. It is a separate program that must be run simultaneously with your email. There is no way to integrate the two. You would have to have Modular Messaging or the Unified messenger product.

Visual Messenger will notify you of new messages in your voice mailbox. However, it will require the use of a separate client software. You should be able to get VM working with your setup that you describe.

EVM, as KenMeans mentions, is a third-party product that is installed on the OAS. It will notify you of new voice mail messages as well as send you the message in a .wav file attachment to any SMTP email address.

(I hope this isn't considered a commercial post.) Check out our website in my sig. for more information.
