Octel 200 coes not answer

I'm having problems with an Octel 200 that is not answering.

I have checked the hardware errors and they are priority 2.

Does anyone have Serenade 2 documentation so I can check the erros an what they mean.



Please Help!
 
I changed the serial connection between to 2 and 4, and it has started to answer. I will be making some tests to see if all works well.

One of the problems I detected is that is not notifing the user that it has a message.

I put the l int instruction and this is what I got:

Sounds good.

In the doc there are some restart commands for the SIC-8.
Check page 36.

This command tells the SIC8 to run its link selftest. The form of the
command is
TE INT x y
where x is the slot number
where y is the integration unit number (1)
Any hardware errors found are logged in the Hardware Error Table. Refer
to the Installation and Maintenance volume, System Errors and Traffic
Pegs chapter, for more information.
This command resets the SIC8 board and takes approximately 30 seconds.
The form of the command is
TE INT x y 2
where x is the slot number
where y is integration unit (1)
where 2 is the reset command flag
This command lists the current state of the SIC8 board, the diagnostic
status, the status of the links, and the pegs. The form of the command is
L INT x y
where x is the slot number

LINK=4 gives some errors:
PEG3 = 9 - Number of times an incomplete packet was
received down link.
Check you cables once again...

LINK-DEPENDENT PEGS. There are 10 pegs for each link. The pegs
correspond to each link separately. They may indicate an error condition.
PEG 1 Number of times SELFTEST failed on the link.
PEG 2 Number of times a display character would
overflow the display line.
PEG 3 Number of times an incomplete packet was
received down link.
PEG 4 Number of times a call was answered, but did not
receive display information.
PEG 5 Number of times display was not decodable.
PEG 6 Number of times the poll task failed.
PEG 7 Number of times the Display Key was pressed, but
the LED did not go ON.
PEG 8 Number of times a glare occurred.
PEG 9 Number of times the Display LCD was in the
wrong state when attempting to press it.
PEG 10 Not used.

Ihave 3 phone sets M2616 that are connected to the serial 25 pin ports that are behind the Octel.

Link 4 is Iddle wich it means that when I switched the serial cables 2 to 4 made the link 4 work.

Where does the third serial cable goes to?

I'm guessing that if I switched does also, with some luck it might work.

I know that one of the phones goes to serial port 4, that is working now. The other one goes to serial port 2 and has no link. The third one I think its connected to serial port 3 I'm not sure, thats why my question of where does it go.

 
The Amphenol cable should go from the OCTEL's P6 on the back side to the serial patch panel.

The serial line IJ2 should go to one of the M2616 keysets, maybe marked with "Link2".

The serial line IJ4 should go to one of the M2616 keysets, maybe marked with "Link4".

From previous:
Link 2 status = dead
Link 4 status = idle

I guess that more links have been programmed, but maybe not in use anymore.

Do you get message waiting lamp to light up?

How many users have voice mail?
500 users only need 2 links to work well.

We have about 200 users that have voice mail.

The message waiting lamp is not lighting up.

Link 2 still down.

the third M2616 is connected to serial port 1. I tried changing from serial 2 to 1 and vice versa with the same result.

It answers but does not ligh up the message lamp.
 
Try send this command:

@MWL RELITE

or

@MWL RECALC

It normally sends the signal to light up the MEW lamps at the keysets that have a message in the OCTEL 200.

does it show you something?

or how can I see through what M2616 is trying to light up the message lamp?

Can that be changed so that the messages light up be done using link 4?
 
Normally I would have programmed Link 1 and Link 2 for this purpose, but since the tech has programmed Link 2 and 4, it must be because of "malfuntioning" Link 1 and maybe 3 (?).
If the two M2616 keyset work well, and the serial cables go from the data modules of these M2616 to the IJ2 and IJ4 on the patch panel, then it should be OK.
1.
Try to swap the line to the Nortel/Meridian PBX for the M2616.
2.
Swap the two serial cables for the data modules.
3.
Make a @TE INT 6 1 for aech swap and post the printout here.
4.
With a serial (RS-232/V24) Break-Out-Box (BOB) measure if the cables work alright.

When the keysets try to light up the message waiting lamps, this can be seen on the buttons on the M2616 keyset.

Message Waiting Link= 2 ** DEFAULT **
