Octel 200/300 Remote Msg wtng notification

Want to know if remote users on another pbx can have msg wtng notification, for example lamp or stdr dialtone. We have two pbx's connected to one vm system. the local pbx has msg wtng, the remote pbx only has Pager notification. Is there some sort of upgrade that would need to be done? To the Meridian1 or to the Octel? How would the msg wtnging notification travel from the vm system to the pbx? What exactly are they refering to when they say LINK?
