Hello,

I will soon be going to assist our Cocoa farmers in Grenada. They run ACCPAC 4.0a for Windows NT/98 and are having problems. Does anyone know of a way to obtain the original software disc(s) for that version? Apparently they have tried using newer versions but are unable to access their database. Any thoughts? Thanks!

What problems are they having and why do you think the CDs will help?

I'm kind of going into this situation blind. There is no one IT-savvy down there and I've never dealt with ACCPAC. Apparently they are unable to access their database entirely. They say the are running a Dell 2500 server with Windows server 2000. The only real information I have is that they were trying to reload their software and they only had a newer version of ACCPAC, and were unable to access their data from that version. They are sending me one of their data tapes so I can take a look. Are there any specific questions I should ask to help narrow down exactly what the issue is? They are extremely friendly but their English isn't the best and they just aren't technically inclined.

Find out which the new version is and also if they have an Accpac business partner. It sounds like they would need an Accpac consultant.

You can download any version from 5.0 and up from Accpac's website.
I doubt if you will get CD's for 4.0 anymore, I actually chucked out a bunch of them in March when I uncluttered my office. The oldest version I kept is 4.2

All I have for 4.0 is a dealer demo CD, which I cannot give out for obvious reasons.

If they do have newer versions of Accpac then upgrading them is a better solution, 4.0 was really buggy.

If you want to I can assist remotely with upgrading or fixing the current installation.

That version of ACCPAC most likely runs on Pervasive or btrieve. So you need to make sure you have btrieve or Pervasive CDs as well.

If Pervasive/Btrieve is not running you will get record manager inactive or something along those lines.

It would help if you can get the exact error message(s) they are getting.

Thanks for all of the replys. Their Accpac consultant and vendor has since closed for business. Due to their current funding situation & remote location, they are kind of stuck, so my company is sending me down there to see what I can do. I will gather further info if possible and repost it here. I should be traveling at the end of this month or sometime in July. If anyone would be able to offer me some assistants at that point it would be greatly appreciated and you would be rewarded with loads of fine chocolate :)
