Dang! Someone's gone and put a rude word in thread1256-1280391 and our firewall won't let me read it! [cry]

Chris

God knows as your Dognose - Bog Blast all of you! - Ozzy Osbourne

Interesting, can you get into either thread now?

Out of curiosity, is my post in thread1256-1280391 going to remain changed to "FBL" instead of "funky butt lovin'"? My post would make more sense if it is changed back, and it isn't the cause of Chris's trouble.

Or, if it is too offensive, feel free to strike out that bit all together.

"Zerorgasms" don't sound very fun.

I'd suggest "fourgasms" as a digital alternative (and, please, no jokes about "eight" as this is a serious discussion about PC issues). Really.

Hope this is handy!

Of course golfers have FOREgasms. That's what gave [blue]rise[/blue] to the score card...

As gentlemen, we'll not here discuss cups, putters, bags, balls, drivers, or, er, hookers. Or swingers.

And there's no such thing as a "short iron." They're all "six-irons." Ask any of us.

Just don't ask about the "three wood." We speak not of that.

Hi folks, It's 22:20 here in Blighty, I'm logged in at home, and there are only 2 things I can see that might be causing my other Firewall to choke.

The most likely is KenCunningham's reference to what Richard Nixon said. To abbreviate: <'spletive deleted>. Given that the time it was posted was 10:23 and I raised this one at 10:43, it seems a likely candidate.

The other contender is Santa Mufasa's pronounciation of 'horses', but with an 'a' in place of the 'o'. That gives a UK rude word with 'h' in front of it. But the timing's wrong, so probably not.

Why are there 5 syllables in the word "monosyllabic"? - Stephen Wright

CC,

Are only English words are under scrutiny there?
Take a look at the Spanish words - they may be the culprit.
Not sure about the timing, though.
Or several words all together can do it – you tried English ones, that might have been the problem at that time, but the Spanish ones were added later, and now they didn’t let him in.

Oops, sorry if my 'spletives caused you the problem Chris!

I don't mind people who aren't what they seem. I just wish they'd make their mind up.

I give up now. Back in work on Monday and I STILL can't get into that other thread - Grrr!

I guess I'll just have to monitor it from home

The problem is in the firewall on your end, and there is no way I can tell from this end what it being blocked from your end.

One approach is for you to meet with the folks on your end and have them identify what their firewall is blocking. They have the distinct advantage of knowing what is being blocked by their firewall.

Another approach is to start removing posts from the thread until you can read it. Once we've isolated the post, then we can narrow it down further. That could take a fair amount of time from both of us. Are you prepared and available to do that?

Hm I can spot several (UK bad words)

Half-arsed: No sorry you cannot say that!!

Buttock: Well this might seem OK, but call someone buttock face is extremely offensive.

Ejaculate: Yes well in the UK its still better to beat around the bush with this one. [cannot believe I just typed that], and as for using it in any 'other' context, well that just too risky.

But to be honest I am surprised at what has already been posted. As a member of a certain UK branch of this web site, we are warned to be very careful with 'language' least we upset readers/moderators on the other side of the pond.

Steve: Delphi a feersum engin indeed.

CajunCenturion: Thanks for your patience and perseverence in helping me skive off work! In all honesty, it's not a problem as I can read it at home where I should be reading it anyway [wink]

sggaunt Thanks for those suggestions, M8, but as you can (maybe) tell, I can read all of them OK, so it's not those.

I've had problems just e-mailing folks in the office with seemingly innocent turns of phrase which contain "Trojan Swear-Words" and the CS MimeSweeper blocks it! [flame]

If you have folks on your end, wouldn't sitting down squash the problem?

I suspect the filtering program has memorized the url, and won't let you back in.
