Below is my ticket to OT support. If you all have any ideas, please let me know.

Livelink 9.7.0, OI 6.0, server 2003, sql 2005

We have started migrating data using the object importer and the last couple of batches that we have ran through have had some serious performance issues. About 5 seconds per document.

I have ran the import from each of our 3 livelink servers and the performance is the same.
I have limited the number of nodes to 1000 in the control file, same performance.
I have ran full maintenance on the database server on all databases, same performance
I have moved the files to be migrated local to the livelink server, to eliminate any network issues, same performance.

This is a CRITICAL issue as we have business units ready to go live and the documents are taking days to import. I need a support tech that has good knowledge of Livelink/Object importer/and SQL server. Thanks.

What I have used is

a)Dedicated Livelink OI servers (no users hit it)
b)Patch that excludes the high level folders from entering audit events table.By now if you do not havethe patch your notification system may be struggling like crazy.
c)I have attached about 5 categories per document all in all totalling about 22 inserts and without categories I used to get a thru put of 0.5 doc/sec and with categories I used to get about 1 doc /2.5 sec
d)If RM is involved that would mean more slowing down

Do you have an uplaod folder defined ?
Do you have LEA in the mix....

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

I dont have a dedicated OI server, however i dont have much user load on any system.

do you have the patch handy, or patch number?

All i am bringing in as far as metadata, is create/modified date, and creator. Rm is already applied to the folder structure in Livelink, not specified in control file.

We have the LEA storage provider module installed, however its not in use.

Upload folder is defined yes.

contact OT support it was developed for 9.5 SP1 and if I am not mistaken around 2005 /2006 time frame. With that patch we could put a key something that looked like

ExcludedContainers={List of high level folders}

I am saying this from memory.Same effect is attined if notifications is disenabled but that was not a option for us.
The slowing could be Rm related with every object with inheritance on all the RM tables need to be inserted/updated.

I thought about LEA because if it is used then it is either a http/https trancaation and if timestamp or SIA is involved you could lose some time there.

Not sure why i thought of upload folder though

Other things to check would be to ensure that all agents - such as Recommender - are disabled as they can slow things down.

You can also disable the triggers on the DTREE table which will improve performance - see for some information.

im getting closer: support came back with this sql error that was happening on every add.

i have the barcodes module installed, however, i cant find any configuration options.

just to let everyone know, a brava patch, PAT2181232, fixed my issue. Thanks to everyone for your advice.
