Object Importer - Set Attribute to <none>

Does anyone know the <Attribute> tag value to set the <None> value for a pick list?

<Attribute>None</Attribute> doesnt work.
<Attribute></Attribute> does not expose the pick list for update.

If there is no initial value during import, I still want the pick list to be available for later use.

The following line works - setting the value to <None> and enabling the pulldown list for later updating.

<attribute clear="false" name="attr_name"></attribute>
