I cannot find anything in toolbox of VS2010 that functions as an OLE container that will hold and show MSWord document or Excel spreadsheet that is contained in a database. I have MSWord and Excel running on the server and I have no problem just having them run in an ASP.net environment. However, MSword and Excel open as blank and I cannot get the contents of the field that contains the .doc or .xls to show.

let me ask this:
where do you think the code goes?
what do you think needs to go into the web.config for this to work?

I'm going to put this back on you, because you have the information needed to answer these questions... even if you don't know it yet. I urge you to learn the technology you are attempting to use.

I can spoon feed you the answers to this specific problem, but that doesn't help you learn. it only allows you to regurgitate what someone else told you.

I give out help and free information for my profession. It would be nice if others were the same

Again I stress that Jason has helped you out extensively. If you are an IT professional, you should be able to take his code and suggestions and figure the rest out for yourself. This is a forum for help, not to get all the code done for you.
