In Adobe Illustrator CS4, or AI-10, it is possible to distort a jpg into another shape by placing an outline drawing on top of it and going OBJECT/MAKE shape as top object.
...but I only have AI-9, and I can't find this tool here...can anyone advise me please?
I cannot afford to buy CS4, or 10....I only have 9.

...envelope distort is a new feature of Illustrator 10 only...

...depending on what you are trying to achieve, the only way of distorting bitmaps without envelope distort is to embed the image (not linked to file) and use the effect > warp controls...
