I have an Access application that runs fine on some machines (win 98 or 2000) but does not always run on others. On some machines I get the error - "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error:Object or class does not support the set of events."

On other machines, when running a report I might get "name#" in a field from a related table.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior before, and if so, what is causing it? Does it have to do with how the application is deployed? I created a package and deploy wizard and ran that on one of the machines, but it did not seem to do anything. All the machines have Office 2000/Access on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm stumped!!

On a machine that does not run the database properly, open any form in design mode, click view>code. From the VB editor click tools>references. If you find a missing reference you’ve found your problem. Just click the missing record, close and restart the database and you will be OK……if that is the problem.

My problem is that it is a .mde that we are deploying and that does not let me look at the references in VB. Any suggestions on how I can clear or correct the references? When I deploy do I need to have all the ocx's/referenced filesd in the same directories as on my development machine?? That seems like it would be a bear to manage.

I have a reference checking add-in which works very nicely and can be used in an mde or mdb. you can call it from code which is very nice. No strings attached, free given a need. it even comes with documentation which is very good. if you would likke it, provide your email address and i will zip everything up including documentation and send it to you.

We have that same problem here. We have NT and XP here. We develope on NT and some users have XP so I have to move the mdb to an XP machine, uncheck one of the references (usually the DAO 3.5 object library) and then recheck it. This will reset all of the references. It is done in the tools menu when you have a code window up. After you recheck the reference that you deselected then create your mde. This will be you production version for these machines (XP for us) only.

Could you send it to me please?
