O.S= red hat tape AIT35

Hi,
to make sure your tape is being seen by the OS at the command prompt type:
cat /proc/scsi/scsi
you should see a line in there that shows the AIT drive.
What type of tar error are you getting.
Is it the only tape drive attached to the sytstem.
What kind of SCSI controller are you using.
if it is the only tape drive on the system, you may also try at the command prompt
mt -f /dev/nst0 status
that will give you drive status if it is connected ..let me know.....Jon
