scenario: We have a Networker Server(v7.3.2), a Dedicate storage node (networker client) ,other 4 networker clients and a ADIC Scalar 24 tape library.

Problem: We can configure the ADIC Scalar 24 on the Networker Server and performing backup/restore successfully, but we cannot configure it on the Dedicate storage node as the error message "Found the library with hardware id 'ADIC Scalar 24 ADIC_1_C00216828' already configured and maintained by another storage node"
Information:
(Networker Server and one of the clients) running MS Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP1
(Dedicate storage node and other 3 clients) running MS Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition SP1

What step should I perform on the Dedicate Storage Node/NWS in order to make the ADIC can be used on the Dedicate Storage Node?

It depends on what you want to do. You can't control the robotics from two hosts. You basically want to let the networker server control the robotics and share or dedicate a drive for your dedicated storage node.

You can edit the existing library and the drives, either from cmd with jbedit or with the GUI, but I think the easiest for you is to delete the library and its drives and start all over with the lib and drive configuration.

Good luck!

yes, I want to let the NWS to control the robot and share one drive for the DSN.

I had deleted the library and drives, run jbconfig on the NWS and both two drives can be used, but how to share one of the drive for DSN?

I do this on the NWS, is it correct?

C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin>jbconfig

Jbconfig is running on host mydomain (Windows Server 2003 5.2),
and is using mydomain as the NetWorker server.

1) Configure an AlphaStor Library.
2) Configure an Autodetected SCSI Jukebox.
3) Configure an Autodetected NDMP SCSI Jukebox.
4) Configure an SJI Jukebox.
5) Configure an STL Silo.
6) Configure a Microsoft Removable Storage Jukebox.

What kind of Jukebox are you configuring? [1] 2
Scanning SCSI buses; this may take a while ...
Error in nt_lus_get_inquiry; error was 1
Incorrect function.

All the Jukeboxes that are connected are already configured.
No new jukeboxes are found on host cisnp199.

C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin>jbconfig

Jbconfig is running on host cisnp199 (Windows Server 2003 5.2),
and is using cisnp199 as the NetWorker server.

Installing 'Standard SCSI Jukebox' jukebox - scsidev@2.2.1.

What name do you want to assign to this jukebox device? ADIC_np1
Attempting to detect serial numbers on the jukebox and drives ...

Will try to use SCSI information returned by jukebox to configure drives.

Turn NetWorker auto-cleaning on (yes / no) [yes]?

The following drive(s) can be auto-configured in this jukebox:
1> LTO Ultrium-3 @ 2.2.0 ==> \\.\Tape0
The 1 drive(s) that cannot be auto-configured will be addressed in a moment,
but first:
Do you want to configure any of the detected drives as shared or NDMP
drives or otherwise manually change their configuration? (yes / no) [no]
Is (any path of) any drive intended for NDMP use? (yes / no) [no]
Is any drive going to have more than one path defined? (yes / no) [no] yes

You will be prompted for multiple paths for each drive.
Pressing <Enter> on a null default advances to the next drive.

Please enter the device path information in one of the following formats:

\\.\Tape0 --for local path or
host:device-path --for remote node or NDMP device(s) or
host:drive-letter:directory path --for Windows disk file

You will be prompted only for those drives that could not be auto-configured;
the others will be skipped. Please provide the paths for these drives:

Drive 2, element 258
Device path 1 ? \\.\Tape1
Device path 2 ? UC1:\\.\Tape1
Hostname 'UC1' is not valid.
Device path 2 ? cisup197:\\.\Tape1

Changing hostname 'mydomain' to 'mydomain.net' to maintain
hostname consistency in the database.

Device path 3 ?

Only model LTO Ultrium-3 drives have been detected.
Are all drives in this jukebox of the same model? (yes / no) [yes]

A Dedicated Storage Node can backup only local data to its devices.
Should mydomain.net be configured as a Dedicated Storage Node? (yes / no) [n
o] yes

Jukebox has been added successfully

The following configuration options have been set:

> Jukebox description to the control port and model.
> Autochanger control port to the port at which we found it.
> Networker managed tape autocleaning on.
> At least one drive was defined with multiple paths. All such drives are
defined with a hardware identification as well as a path value to avoid
confusion by uniquely identifying the drive. The hardware identification
for all drives which have one is always 'autochanger_name - Drive #' where
"autochanger_name" is the name you gave to the autochanger that was
just defined, and the # symbol is the drive number.
> Barcode reading to on.
> Volume labels that match the barcodes.
> Slot intended to hold cleaning cartridge to 23. Please insure that a
cleaning cartridge is in that slot
> Number of times we will use a new cleaning cartridge to 5.
> Cleaning interval for the tape drives to 6 months.

You can review and change the characteristics of the autochanger and its
associated devices using the NetWorker Management Console.

Would you like to configure another jukebox? (yes/no) [no]

1.Just check you have installed the storage node and Client software on the dedicated storage node.

2.If you have enabled the licenses for base enabler for the server then ensure that you have Dynamic drive sharing license enabled/ entered.

3. Also check for the drive is seen on the dedicated storage node by using inquire and sjisn commands.

Good tips from vksm. Looks like jbconfig goes along with everything. Are both drives shared or at least visible to the DSN? You add \\.\Tape1 to the remote host. Should it really be tape1 and not tape0? What is the error or problem you see with the storage node?

I intent to share one drive, cos I only have one DDS license.
I can see both drives by using "inquire" on DSN ,while on the NW admin GUI, the drives only appear under the NWS host name, and nothing appear under DSN host name.

should I run jbconfig / jbedit on the DSN ?

Hi,

no the jbconfig and jbedit command should be run on the host that controls the robotics. I can't see why it is not working, since jbconfig goes through without an error. I know 7.3 and 7.3.1 had issues with DSN but that was supposed to be solved.

You could always try to run a reconfigure on library from the GUI to add another path for one of the drives. You could also try to add another device from the GUI (rd=hostname:\\.\Tape1), but that needs to have the same hardware id as the same drive on the networker server.
