Our computer freezes a lot and has to be rebooted. We have a Pentium II, Windows 98, and the video adapter is a NVidia RIVA 128-bit.
No other problems can be found, and we're wondering if the video card or driver may not be compatible.
Wondering if anyone has seen this intermitant problem? We're thinking about decreasing the video accelleration. [sig][/sig]

Do you get a mesage on startup that says your video adapteris not compatible, or something to that effect. If not, check in your system configuration(Start, Control panel, System, Device manager tab). It should tell you in there if something is not compatible. One thing you can try is to completely strip the machine of cards. Leave a video card and hard drive in, but remove any modems or network cards etc., and try installing them one by one, powering down, installing and restarting in between each, until it locks again, this should give you an idea of any problems. If it locks with just the video card in, you'll know that it is the problem. If doing this doesn't help, you might want to try reinstalling 98. I hope this helps, drop another post in if you are still having a problem.
