Hello all Mitel Techs,
I was curious if there was a way to re-record system prompts on a NuPoint? Specifically the "Dial By Name Directory". Currently by default that prompt says:

“Enter the last name of the person you are calling followed by the first name.
For the letters ABC use the 2 key
For the letters DEF use the 3 key
For the letters GHI use the 4 key
For the letters JKL use the 5 key
For the letters MNO use the 6 key
For the letters PRS use the 7 key
For the letters TUV use the 8 key
For the letters WXY use the 9 key
For the letters Q and Z use the 1 key.”

Which is a pretty painful prompt to listen to, especially since the odd letters (Q and Z) are listed at the very end. Many folks would not listen to that prompt in it's entirety and thus would never know that the letters Q and Z are input using the 1 key. I'd like to re-record that prompt to say something like "Please enter one or more letters of the persons last name, for the Q and Z use the 1 key.".

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Iron

jpruder,
I was able to successfully replace that file in question and it worked great. I noticed that file 2081 in the English_Numeric was the culprit and that just the English directorys 2081 had the file that said:
"For the letters Q and Z use the 1 key."

I simply copied it and overwrote the other, worked great! Hats off to you!

kwbMitel,
I'm still interested in your way as well where by you found...

Note: The addition of some overlay prompts (like the Numeric Overlay Prompts) may cause the Dial-by-Name introductory prompts to change. Callers may be prompted with a complete list of alphabetic characters and their numeric equivalents before being allowed to dial.
Just need to find where to change that....

For now though my customers issue is solved!

Thanks,

On my system I found that changing the language for the line group made a difference.

Active Configuration
- Line Group

Language = Default (Numeric Prompts enabled)

Language = English (US) (no numeric prompts)

kwbMitel,
Was curious what that was all about and thought that where it was too.....perhaps I just over thought all of this. Though I wonder on top of that "for Q and Z use the 1 key" prompt, what other prompts would have changed? I still thought it was a very cool trick way jpruder came forward with. This way if we ever wanted to simply re-record a prompt we could do so. but like he said it is a very specific file with specific parameters. (mulaw 8 bit 8Khz mono raw)

Thanks,
