NuPoint - Re-record System Prompts?

Hello all Mitel Techs,
I was curious if there was a way to re-record system prompts on a NuPoint? Specifically the "Dial By Name Directory". Currently by default that prompt says:

“Enter the last name of the person you are calling followed by the first name.
For the letters ABC use the 2 key
For the letters DEF use the 3 key
For the letters GHI use the 4 key
For the letters JKL use the 5 key
For the letters MNO use the 6 key
For the letters PRS use the 7 key
For the letters TUV use the 8 key
For the letters WXY use the 9 key
For the letters Q and Z use the 1 key.”

Which is a pretty painful prompt to listen to, especially since the odd letters (Q and Z) are listed at the very end. Many folks would not listen to that prompt in it's entirety and thus would never know that the letters Q and Z are input using the 1 key. I'd like to re-record that prompt to say something like "Please enter one or more letters of the persons last name, for the Q and Z use the 1 key.".

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Iron

The Nupoint does allow for custom Prompts [bigsmile]

It is an extra cost feature [hammer]

There may be other ways to manipulate the prompt by enabling or disabling numeric prompts but I've never tried

kwbMitel,
Thank you, do you know what the feature is called? and if it is a licensed thing we need to do? Additionally is there documentation on this?

Thanks,
-Iron

This is unknown territory for me, I just know it exists. Sorry.

kwbMitel,
No worries. The only thing I could find via documentation and I'm not sure if I'm on the right track or not is this:

Speech Auto-Attendant is a completely different beast that uses speech to invoke actions.

Not my favourite, works most of the time but the time is doesn't is with the CEO and he doesn't care for excuses.

kebMitel,
Sounds like my kind of luck as well. I kinda thought it wasn't the right thing, but thought I'd ask. I'll keep researching it though. If I do find the steps to do this I'll post em'. Thus far about 10 hours of just researching this.

Thanks,

Sorry to be asking this at this point but how are you accessing dial by name.

I don't remember the options being so wordy

kwbMitel,
No worries. I'd happy to explain with a picture of what I'm seeing. "Press 1 for a company Directory". Then you get the.....

"Enter the last name of the person you are calling followed by the first name.
For the letters Q and Z use the 1 key."

This sounds like the right track

Note: The addition of some overlay prompts (like the Numeric Overlay Prompts) may cause the Dial-by-Name introductory prompts to change. Callers may be prompted with a complete list of alphabetic characters and their numeric equivalents before being allowed to dial.

I told you what the prompt number was, where it is located and what it's format i.e mulaw 8 bit 8Khz mono raw.

/usr/local/vm/audio/prompts will get one close. I use Filezilla and connect via sftp with root. If you look in the one you are using, there is a file called pmttable that has a description on what the prompt number says

jpruder,
Sorry, I shoulda waited for you to respond with this info, hehehe. I'm gonna look into this. Thanks a bunch! I'll follow-up with my findings.

@ jpruder - This thread is irongladiators 1 and only post anywhere on tek-tips

You may have responded to this question before but not to him.

kwbMitel,
It's ok, no worries, no harm done! I think the Numeric Overlay may be something to exploit as well....seems there are multiple prompts on this....the other question would be how do I select that other one?

jpruder,
Can I ask....would you mind sharing the tek-tip forum link to that so I can check it out?

Thanks,
-Iron

I've been looking on how to enable/disable numeric prompts and there appear to be options in both LCOS and FCOS.

I'm past my end of day here so that will be all I can do for now.

He cross posted elsewhere, you can change the prompt in the directory provided. I will add that I used zip7 to look at the NP iso to see where the prompts were installed.

Ahh, that kind of elsewhere, clued in.
