Hi,

I'm new to Nupoint. I'll eventually get training in about 3 weeks from now but am busy with an installation right now that just couldn't wait.

my question is around faxing.
I've managed to get inbound faxing to work but am having difficulty with outbound faxing.
I have 2 line groups, one is nupoint voice (for incoming) and using lines 4001 to 4004. My second line group is a Pager Dialer (for outgoing) and using lines 4005 - 4007.

I've assigned two fax groups. 1 for incoming and 2 for outgoing. In turn these fax groups are assigned to the line groups 1 and 2 respectively. I've also assinged channels to these fax groups however it would appear that fax groups can't share channels. Is this by design or am I doing something wrong.

Simply put can I have my 4 fax channels serve as both incoming and outgoing channels.
I'm thinking not...

Thanks in advance

Hi Mitelpassion,

You are right, you cannot have the same Fax channel in different fax groups.

What I would do is just have 1 fax group with all 4 channels in an assign this fax group to both your voice and Pager line groups.

fax group is assigned to voice group. if I assign fax group to pager line group would it not remove itself from the voice?

I did so many config changes - I'm sure I tried this and it removed itself from the voice group. I could be wrong though as I've said, tried a gazillion things not being sure what I was trying ;)

Thanks

No this should be ok as you can assign a fax group to more than 1 line group.

ok , I have assigned the fax group to the pager group as well as the nupoint voice group.

I'm still not able to fax outbound. the system has been licensed for outbound fax and I'm sure all the FCOS settings to allow for outbound as per the help file has been set.

any pointers on this?

The issue may be with the Pager Line group, not the fax.

Setup a mailbox to use the pager dialer and make sure the VM can dial out at all.

kwb,

I think this is what I may be missing - setting up a mailbox to use the pager dialer. I'm not sure how to do this. I've been reading the help file but am confused.
The weekend has passed so hopefuly a fresh start on this ;)

I'm also still trying to figure out why to use a Pager group, bascially how excatly the outbound faxing takes place within the Nupoint system. Could you provide some clarity on that perhaps?

I'm using different IP ports for the Nupoint Voice Line group and the Pager Group, not sure if this makes a difference, don't think it should?

Thanks

Mitelpassion,

Can you run a configeration report and post the details of your pager group.

Thanks

Ok for internal faxes your pager plan looks ok. this will need to be modified for external calls.

For mailbox 2654 FCOS, make sure that is has a least these feature bits:

191(Make Fax Messages)
193 (Deliver Fax to Default Number)
195 (Specify Fax Delivery Number)
290 (Enable UM Web View)
110 (Make/Give to Telephone Number)

On the mailbox config make sure that the following is set as this allow for outbound fax via the web:

Specify the Call Placement Pager Access Type = 0

mitel100,

I'm looking for this option:
On the mailbox config make sure that the following is set as this allow for outbound fax via the web:

Specify the Call Placement Pager Access Type = 0

Can I find this on the web config or would I have to use the console menu?

Apologies I have been out all day. I always program via the console, I have never seen this option in the web page.

ah yes.. it's under the webview called outdial apps.
I have set this.

I've rebuilt the server and have implemented your suggestions. I'll try again tomorrow once I've taken the system back to site.

thanks for the help thus far.
I pretty much had all of what you have suggested in place except for FCOS 110 (Make/Give to Telephone Number)

I'll let you know how I get on.

Have tried this again, and didn't work.
I must be doing something wrong.

the ports used for the pager can dial out so it's not a barring issue

any other pointers perhaps?

ok looks like it's working now.
I used a speed call 4 digits to dial as the destination number. I used both yes and no for override toll control, both succeeded.

I can only deduce that it has something to do with the amount of digits I'm using to dial as barring is not the problem

is there anywhere one has to set the digit length?
I've looked at the LCOS fax limits and this has been set to 11 digits.

anything else I could be looking for?

thanks for the help thus far

Hi Mitelpassion, can you confirm the actual number you are dialling to send the fax, I thought it was 4444 as stated before in the log.

Thanks

it was 4444 but 4444 is a speeddial to another number.
the reason why I tried a speed dial was to make sure that I wasn't having any barring issues.

initially 4444 didn't work at all. I've subsequently reinstalled the server and now 4444 is working both for override toll control yes and no.

This indicates to me that the issue is not due to barring. The fact that 4444 but the 11 digit number doesn't (4444 point to the exact 11 digit number) probably means a dialling digit length restriction of sorts right?

ok have nailed it down to the following:
any number up to 8 digits work.
any number over 8 digits in length doesn't work and returns an error immediately.

any ideas. I've gone through the FCOS and LCOS and have changed certain fields which in my mind could have caused this, however still doesn't work.
