Numlock staying on

Hello folks,

I have an annoying little problem with an IBM T30 laptop.
Numlock is staying on even though I have set it to "off" in the bios. Cant understand it. I also tried booting the pc without startup items to see if something in windows was triggering it, but even then it still comes on. Anyone seen this?

Found the answer myself. there is a registry entry here
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard

then changed the InitialKeyboardIndicators value to 1 from 2, fixed it.

Think this fix is only for Win XP

Yes this is correct. As a preference many people have numlock on by default, XP has issues with this so a registry fix is often applied. We use that fix here:

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard]
"InitialKeyboardIndicators"="2"
"KeyboardDelay"="1"
"KeyboardSpeed"="31"

"InitialKeyboardIndicators"= "1" for off, "2" for on.
