I have a generic system with a P4 1.6ghz w/ 192 mb ram. I'm running WinXP Home with SP2 installed. The problem I am having started well before installation of SP2. It all started when my son (w/o my knowledge) loaded and ran Kazaa. As a result the machine was loaded down with trojans, malware and viruses. I have slowly been removing those pesky things using the cocktail method (AdAware, HiJack, Peper Cleaner, trojan remover and others) and have a fairly clean system now.
Problem is that I still cannot use the numeric keypad under one user's login, regardless of the numlock state. Also when I press the numlock key it beeps and flashes the background of the active window. I created a new user account and everything works as expected.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
