In a defined paragraph style (f.i. heading) I use numbers.
These numbers have to restart every new chapter.
How can I organise this?

Now either the numbering goes on into the new chapter, either the numbering is everywhere the same.

Maybe it is simple, but I have been staring to long to oversee it now.
For a quick help I would be most grateful.

Thanks
Maarten

Are you starting a new chapter in the same document or in a different document?

If you want it to restart in the same document, duplicate the paragraph style and edit the style.

Go to Bullets and Numbering, Lists>New List> Name it and apply it. The numbers should restart, you can change this to 2 or 3 at the start or what ever.

In a different document, once the numbers are in a Book, then you can on making the new list, choose the options that apply.

If you're using a single document you can also section your document.

Select the page that is the New Chapter in the pages panel.

Layout>Numbering and Section Options and name give it the appropriate chapter number.

Then Type>Insert Variable>Chapter Number

You can do this across documents too, using the Book feature. And the chapter numbers will be updated automatically if you have the right settings in the numbering and section options.
