I occasionally get a blue screen with an error something to do with ntfs.sys. All bog standard MS drivers installed.
Does this from clean install also.
I have to run cmd repair and force chkdsk/p to get the system to boot after this error has occured.
Tells me file/folder SYSTEM is missing or corrupt.
Any ideas?

In this situation knowing the exact error message can help a lot. Are you having two errors, one a blue screen type error, and one a NTFS.Sys error when you run Chkdsk?

To get further information about the error look in your Event viewer.

Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on this site.

Also check any "Information" line that mentions "savedump" and you should find reference to "recovered from a bug check". This is the Stop Error that caused your problem.

You can also turn off "automatically restart after an error" so it will just halt at the fault and display the full Stop Error and blue screen.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties .
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery .
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure , and then click OK . The error message on a blue screen should remain on the screen so you can record the error information.

If you have a missing or corrupt system file, go to command prompt, type in( sfc /scannow )this will check to see if all your system file are in tack,if not! it will copy new files from your xp cd.(to get to command prompt)go to start-all programs-accessories-command prompt.
PS: sfc stand's for (System File Checker)

I'm not going to be near my computer for a few days, so i'll copy the whole error msg when I get a chance and i'll get back to you. cheers
