Was wondering if anyone was familiar with the Nortel bullentins that were put out about the release numbers of the NT6x40ga DS512 Link Paddle Board cards? We have several that have been replaced and was told the release had to be 14 or above. Anyone that could be of help, I would appreciate hearing from.

Hello FTLE 20 : My MSL -100 Switch was running version 7 (and has been for years), but in the past 4 years, I was experiencing a LOT of P-Side Link failures due to a "Bad Frame Pule" error (per the ENET/LOGUTIL messages (example from my printout on my terminal):

Fail reason: bad frame pulse on fiber
After having this issue on several other PM's, I found out thru another forum that capacitor 'C1' was found to have problems on version 7 and earlier, and after pulling and replacing it with a version 8, I haven't had any problems on the shelf units/PM's that I R&R'ed from. So, in a nutshell, if you are experiencing any P-Side failures due to the DS 512 Link Paddleboard card (NT6X40GA), in theory, you should be o.k. with a version 8 or better.

Thanks for the reply. I have replaced several already and was in the need of spares. Several more are still working. I ask for 14 or higher and what was sent were release 7s and 9s. Thats what I have working now and are subject to being replaced. Thought if I had the bulletin, if there was one I could prove my point move effectively to the ones that ordered the cards. Thanks though, wasnt aware of it being a capacitor problem.

And to elaborate on this for those that may read it. I have replaced release 9s that have gone bad. Was told by a senior Tech Support engineer that releases 6-9 were having early life failure and that when replacing one 13 or higher should be used.
