Hi!

I have a problem..... I have an NT4 Domain that we are migrating to W2K and AD. Our migration strategy is to build a paralell W2K Domain. Now if I use Windows 2000 Professional clients in the new W2k Domain the Group Policies works great. But now I want to move some of the NT4 workstaion clients to the new domain. As I now you cant use GPO on NT4 so I have to use System Policies to apply policies to NT4. I created a new system policy file(ntconfig.pol) an placed in the netlogon share on W2k servers. The problem is that even that the NT4 client logon correctly to the W2k Domain (it´s even running the login script that is in the same folder that the ntconfig.pol) the Policies insn't applies.

Can anyone help me ?

I might add that we are running roaming profiles for these users.

Do users in the new domain have the correct permissions to ntconfig.pol?

If you have multiple DCs in the 2000 domain, you'll have to make sure that the file exists in the NETLOGON share of the DC that's filling the PDC emulator FSMO (Flexible Single Master of Operations) role (If for some reason it's not replicating). It should be the first DC that you installed for the domain. To verify this open Active Directory Users and Computers, right-click your domain and click on Operations Masters. Click on the PDC tab to view which server has this role. Marc Creviere

Thanx, but I solved it my self. It had to do with the Roaming Profiles. The ntconfig.pol hade been replicated and the correct permission was set. But when you use roaming profiles and you move the NT workstation machine to the new domain and the user still uses the old profile. The policy isn´t applied. If I delete any locally cached profile and removes the roaming profile so it can be regenerated, the policiy is applied.

Thank you for your answer anyway.

Regards Johan
