hi, warning amateur at work here i am afraid! at the moment we have at NT4 server and client pcs on a company lan. several users have laptops tho and what to get at their files from home and we are putting in an exchange server (5.5) so they will want to access those no doubt. Plus we use an AS400, if we could get the users 'on the network' as it were they can use that remotely too.

How do i access the network and join it remotely? we have a phone line to ring up if thats an option, or we have ADSL through a router, if the user could connect over the net would be even better, if for example the users have broadband at home.

Cheers for any help you can give me!

With NT 4.0, there are several possibilities.
Cheapest and easiest solution for remote access would be Dial-in access.
All you have to do is enable and configure the dial-in access function on the server, give the users access rights, and, of course, install a modem on the server.
After that, you need to setup dial-in conf. on client ws.

However, access speed will be slow and one-client-a-time thing.

If your company has high speed IS and static IP, you might want to setup VPN server. This will require high speed IS on client side also.
