This is a new one on me - hopefully someone will have seen this before.
Originally had a machine running NT4 Server. 2 9GB Raid 1 and 6 18GB Raid 5.
We've removed 2 18's and replaced them with 2 9's. Reconfigured the disks to have 2 x 2 9GB Raid 1 and 4 18GB Raid 5. Mylex software reports the following drives,
Disk 0 - 9GB
Disk 1 - 9GB
Disk 2 - 52GB
When we start installing NT Server on to the first disk and get to the point of creating and choosing disk partitions it reports Disk 2 as a 52GB drive. That's okay - but it has a capacity of 87GB which is physically impossible even with no Raid!!
After installing NT Server and running Disk Administrator it shows Disk 2 - 52GB..... but shows free space as 87GB!!
Has anyone ever seen this - we've created a 50GB partition on the disk just so we can use it and so far it reads and writes okay (presumable because we're not asking it to do anything it couldn't physically do). I don't believe it has anything to do with the Mylex DAC960 card or the Mylex software as it reports everything okay.
Would appreciate anyones thoughts on this as I am more interested in satisfying my curiousity than fixing it at the minute.
Cheers.

HI,

you have forgot to initialize you disks(raid1,5)

After difining your configuration in raid system soft
you have to chose initialaze you logical drives before
living the raid utilitie.

Good luck
