We have an application on a dedicated system running NT wkstn 4 SP6 and its primary NIC is connected to a private LAN on its own subnet.
We have a *nix server on a different subnet and we need to read & write files on the NT from the *nix server. We've tried many approaches all of which have failed and we think its due to NOT having a subnet defined on the "other" subnet's router(?).
Our next approach is to install a second NIC into the NT wktn and configure it with an IP in the main subnet to which the *nix server also resides. Then using some mechanism yet to be determined, have applications on the *nix box obtain then write files from/to the NT box.
Can this be done? Are we blowing smoke? If it is feasible when mechanism would be recommended to "map" the NT's file system for r/w access by the *nix box?
Thanks in advance NT people.
