Is it possible to configure Samba (or somethink else) for mounting NT directory on an AIX??
Samba is now install for sharing AIX directory. I want now to mount NT share on AIX
Thanks
We also are doing this, no idea how it happens, but we mount Novell on AIX and we are trying to mount Win2K on AIX right now. All the magic is on the Microsoft side, AIX works as normal.
There's a product called facetwin by Facetcorp. It will allow your RS6000 to act as a SMB server and also provides a ftp style interface for getting files from the WinXX environments. I know there's a command called smbmount in Samba but It's only in the linux version of samba that I've seen. The version of samba I had loaded a while back didn't include the smbmount command. Hope that helps!!! Good luck. Scott Figgins

3. Samba

If you want to try with Samba 2.0.7 (latest version), here is the download path:
Bring the file to the your directory, then type at the # SAMBA_aix432-2.0.7.0.exe <enter>, this will give you a bff file. Then type:
bffcreate -d <yourDIR> -w /tmp -t <newDIR> freeware.SAMBA <enter>.
This will create an image file which can be installed via smit install_latest. You get then three folders under /usr/local: lib, bin and man. With older versions, it used to create a directory called samba and place all the stuff in there, but not with this version.

Running samba 2.0.7 on a AIX with version 4.2.1, I get about
8 MB a second throughput, when copying files from the AIX to the PC!
