I am preparing to upgrade my network to 2003 AD. I currently have an NT domain. DNS is not installed yet but I want to install it before going to 2003. Should DNS be installed on a domain controller, member server or stand alone server? Any other advice is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance

2003AD requires SRV records for DNS which NT DNS doesn't support so you would have to install it on the PDC otherwise you will probably get errors during the DCPROMO process. Once it is installed on the PDC, 2003 will upgrade DNS and configure it automatically for use in your AD

I need to upgrade a single NT PDC computer that controls the network to Windows 2003. Will there be a problem with the existing DNS structure after the upgrade to Windows 2003 or will all be upgraded without problems?
