NT on Win 98 SE?

Hi,

NT gurus help me in installing Win NT server on Windows 98 SE. The NT I have came with the Visual Studio 6 Enterprise edition (as part Back office server 4.5) I get error message. tried in two different machines each giving different errors.

Might help if you posted the error's.

Plus NT is an Operating System, you can't install it "ON" Windows 98.

Sounds like you're tryn to dual boot????

Yes, if you are trying to install as dual boot and the existing file system is FAT32 then NT will just curl up and die as it cannot read that file system.

The following are the errors i get:

System 1: Check whether the C drive is formatted or may be damaged!

System 2: Restart and set teh recovery options in the System Control Panel or the /CRASHDEBUG sytem start option, If thsi is the message reappears contact your system administrator or technical support group.

Yes I was trying to have a dual boot up as I can use and test the Visual Studio applications on the servers that are bundled in BackOffice Server 4.5 developer edition.
For BackOffice server to be installed Win NT is required. Thats what the meesage and the manual says. FYI.

Your problem is that windows is on FAT 32. NT doesn't work on FAT 32. I don't think you can convert from FAT 32 to FAT 16. If this is the case you need to get a copy of Partition Magic. Do a full defrag. Create another partition with P.M. then format it with FAT 16 or let NT make it NTFS during the install.
