Looking for input regarding best tools to use for monitoring large (1200 NT Server/Workstations) NT domain. We want to be proactive with preventative problems and issues. Event Viewer and Performance Monitor will not suffice all requirments. Looking for 3rd party apps to report and track remote servers and workstations as events and problems happen. Any help/ideas as appreciated.

Try Network Associates software (NAI.com) for Network management & protection. They have a really nice suite of apps., in my opinion.
Their latest sniffer and Helpdesk solutions are not bad.
Try event logger from TNT Software it can log events and be pro actve with problems before they get out of hand. It can even run certain processes etc on receiving certain types of events.
Worth a look

One useful tool is Alertpage from Geneva software, I think genevasoft.com, or geneva.com. It will monitor your NT eventlog, and page you with the text of the messages. Really good
