Is it possible to seport the WINS db to a text file in an NT domain? I know I can back it up, but I couldn't open the backup in access like I planned. Is there a freeware utility or easy way to get this done? Thanks in advance for any help, Sarah

That feature is not available for NT. Why you want to have the WINS db exported. All the static entries should be saved in the server registry, not in the WINS db. The WINS db has only automatic entries.

I was asked to do it and that is all the information I got. Where exactly is it in the registry? Thanks for the help.

Sometimes asking questions helps you understand the problem and come up with a better solution to something that may seem impossible to do. That is why I ask questions.

You can do this by installing the admin pack from 2k server onto a 2k pro or server box. I'm not sure if the admin pack will run on an NT box, but it will allow you to export the info from an NT wins server.

Install by browsing to the I386 folder on 2k server cd and running ADMINPAK.MSI.

* To open WINS, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click WINS.
* Go to ACTION and select ADD SERVER and enter the IP address of the NT server
* Highlight the added server and go to ACTION -> FIND BY NAME. ENter * for the name and click FIND. All entries will be listed. Go to ACTION->Export LIst
