NBU Gurus,

I am unable to connect to the NetBackup Administrative console from a Windows NT client. The NetBackup server is a Unix server. I get the following error:
=====================================================
Neither the selected host "nbuserv.xp.acme.com" has NetBackup operating nor the current user "USER123" or host have the NetBackup administrative privileges on the host "nbuserv.xp.acme.com".
1. Make sure the user has privileges on the host.
2. Make sure the current host is listed in the destination host's server list.
3. Make sure there is a valid network connection.
4. Check authentication.
5. Make sure all the services are running on the host.
=======================================================

The user account USER123 does exist on the Unix server. The bp.conf file on the Unix server contains an entry for the Windows client (and backups are successful). The /etc/hosts file on the Unix server also contains an entry for the Windows client.

What am I missing?

Thanks

If you go into the GUI - Does the servers tab of the master server contain the workstation name? If it does, have the services been restarted since the client was added? If not, bpkill_all and then netbackup to restart the services.

I added the workstation name to the bp.conf file on the master server:

SERVER = ntworkst1.xp.acme.com

This allowed GUI access, though access is limited.

Thanks for the help.

cstorm,

did you ever get full access, and if so, what did you do?

I have seen the same problem, and am only ever able to get bacup access, quite annoying really as the Java client blows..

Personally - I do not use the java client - I find that there are far too many problems, not withstanding the resource issues as the client tends to consume all available system resources and slow everything to a crawl.

We have full Admin access now. Another entry was needed in the bp.conf file on the Master server:
PREFERRED_GROUP = XY\GROUP_win_adminG_GG
