NT Authenticaion, CE10 server re-build, and group Permissions

Using WIndows 2000 Server and CE10. Had users logging onto CE via NT authentication.
Had a lovely catastrophic event. Had to re-build server. I have database.

I am able to see the users, but none of the group assignements exist.
For example, users are supposed to be long to the east coast permissions group, that group still exists, and of course the user still exists, but the user is not in that group and the group does not show any users as being assigned to it.

Unless you back your cms up somewhere previous to the catastrophy, you will have to rebuild your groups and users.

I did have it all backed up. which is why I am very confused. I had a back up of my database and the repository folders.
