I am trying to get NT 4 to communicate with a Router so that Proxy 2 and exchange server can use this device for external comms

any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

need more information here are you trying to set up NT 4.0 as a router ??? or just trying to get a terminal session to the router ??? does the router have a buil-in firewall??? what kind of router is it ?

The server is up and running, instead of using an internal TA or modem for RAS/exchange and proxy I want to use a Zyxel P202 router setup on the network to access the ISP

Hi,

You need to right click network neighbourhood, choose properties, click on the Protocols tab, hightlight TCIP/IP.

Click on Properties, and in the default gateway bit, enter the IP address of the router.

the above post is correct setting the servers default gateway IP to that of the router should allow you to communicate assuming you have set the 2 to be on the same network both the router and the server must be on the same network ie network ID 192.168.1.0 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 now your numbers may vary here but i think you get the picture, once you can ping the routers interface you should be good as long as the router is configured properly
