Dear All,

I am using NS 700 with Panasonic KX-NT IP Phone.
PC and IP Phone are sharing in the same local network.

Does anyone know will the setting of Qos at System Property - Site affect the setting of the switch?
Am I need to provide this information to switch setting providers?

Thanks a lot !!!

Qos is mostly used on the firewall to control data going from the lan to the wan as this is normally the bottleneck of the network.

Qos on the internal flat network is harder to do, as it will have to be based on port or priority tagging in the data frames

If you have gigabyte switch it should be fine internally. If you have multiple switches and lots of devices, the broadcast is the biggest problem as devices have to process them all to see if its for them or not.

How many devices do you have? Vlans are probably the best solution for larger networks as the separate the phones and data broadcasts plus Qos can be applied to the different networks on the switches and firewall. Plus if they are running DPI or antivirus control it could mess with the phone going external.
If you are using phone and pc off the back of the phone, you can have the network port of the phone as one network and the pc port as a different network.

What issue are you trying to solve?

obtsystems, thank you for your reply

The switch setting company ask me ns 700 is, COS or DSCP?

Will the setting of Extension RTP under system property affect their firewall setting?
And, what Is this setting actually for?

It used DSCP or its diffserv on the phone

The switch company should tell you what level to use.

Not sure what rtp settings you are talking about will affect the firewall

obt, thanks

I am talking about at maintenance console, under slot > site property >last column > Qos
what is this item mainly for?
