I scanned a piece of fabric to add it to my swatch list in Illustrator (10) and after figuring out how to link it, and embed it I am still unable to add it to my swatch list. What am I doing wrong?

swatches in Illustrator are samples of colors, not actual fabric swatches...

you can use the eyedropper tool to select the color you want and then drag that color to the swatch library.

I figured it out. Turns out the version I had was too old to turn my fabric into a swatch for illustrator. I have since upgraded and YES the fabric piece I scanned is now an actual swatch that I can add to my pattern drawings. Thank you for responding.
