Hello,

I've installed the novell client for linux 1.0 under suse 9.3. Seems to be ok. SLP seems to be configured correctly, but I see trees I can't access and I don't see trees I want and can access!

Even if I enter the tree, context, user, ... by hand, I can't access the network.

However, if I install ncpfs and try a manual connection with ncpmount, it works.

I'm looking for the problem:

* TCP/IP -- IPX ?
* client installation ?
* client configuration ?
* server configuration ?

If you have any idea, thanks.

Sounds like SLP on the client is looking at the wrong Directory Agent (DA). Have you verified which DA you should be connecting to?

I have the IP address of the SLP server. I tried to modify the file /etc/slp.conf as follows:

net.slp.DAAddresses = <IP address>
net.slp.useScopes = GLOBAL
net.slp.isBroadcastOnly = false
net.slp.isDA = true
net.slp.interfaces = <IP address>

but with these modifications, i don't have any tree to connect to.

Hmmm. For now let's forget SLP. Put the IP address of the server you're trying to connect to in the login box and see what happens.

Does not work.

With the old novell client, which was a graphical front end for the ncpmount method, slp did not work but I could enter the server IP-address directly and successfully.

That's as far as my knowledge goes, sorry. Have you asked about this on the Novell forums?

Anyhow, thanks for your help ;-)

A last but basic question: does the new client 1.0 support IPX? If not, I understand my problems...
