I am backing up Novell 5.1 SP3 with Backup Exec 8
When the job runs it gives me two errors which cause it to end in an Error therefor putting the job on hold.

The first one is
BEGIN SMS ERRORS

Cannot scan for trustees

Cannot scan for trustees

END SMS ERRORS

Also the other one is
its want to back up the licences but cannot due to insufficent privileges but its admin with full rights to everything..

I really need a fix for this before christmas if anyone has any ideas

Try Rolling back your TSANDS.NLM and TSA500.NLM and SMDR.NLM

1. Exit Backup Exec Client and Manager
2. Bestop
3. Unload tsands
4. Unload tsa500
5. Unload smdr

6. rename above files and copy from service pack 2a

7. smdr new (at conslole)
a) Answer Yes to disable NDS(doesnt actually disable, just speeds up scanning process)
b) Answer no to disable sap
c) Answer no to disable slp

8. load tsands
9. load tsa500
10. bestart - try backup job.

What are the dates on these files I cannot find service pack 2a online anywhere but were able to find the files and need the dates.

I rolled back those nlm's and run the job which gave me the same errors

Cannot scan for trustees.

What do you think it is and how do you think I can fix it.
Thanks.

Nick

Can't help you on the trustees thing, but it's not possible to back up the licences for 5.1 (and I think with 4.something-or-other as well, but I'm not certain). No matter how many privileges you have, it can't be done - Novell have done something to them. It just means that after the restore you have to stick them in again by hand.

The only thing to do is to exclude them from your backup selection so it won't show up in your job log.
