For some unknown reason I am getting screaching
slow downs on my server. It is

Pentium 3 700 Xeon
1 GiG of Ram
2 18 GiG SCSI HDs
1x Intel 10/100
I have searching and searching for a reason of why this has happened but I
can not find and answer. My main Data volume which is SYS2 still has half
of it's space free. If I just try to copy a few files it is dog slow. This
server has like 70 People max on it. Please help I am in a bind.
I am also running Arcserve 6.6

Are you running any virus scanning software on both workstation and server? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"
-----------------------------------------------------

Just on workstations but I have been doing that forever.

Is your workstation antivirus software by chance VirusScan? If so, what version and what scan engine. Also, what OS on the workstations?

Try issuing this command on the console. Should also be set in STARTUP.NCF:

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF

I will post a TID on this tomorrow -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

These 2 TID's helped me before

Simple solution, check the network card and the hub/switch it's connected to. add another card to the server and see if you get the same responce.
