I have laptops i wish to add to my Novell IPX/IP network.

Using the newer SMC or Belkin PCMCIA wireless cards it will not log onto my file server, but it finds my Linux DHCP Server which in turn gives it a valid IP address for its session, meaning I can use the net, etc.

Older versions of PCMCIA cards work fine including Belkins cards, but newer ones dont seem to work at all. I have been onto Belkin and SMC and they state they can not help me anymore.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Are your newer cards using IP only? NetWare 4.x servers will not connect via IP, network cards have to have IPX enabled. Only NetWare 5.x and above can connect properly via IP. -----------------------------------------------------

I feel this is the way the newer cards are going as nearly all new products are using IP as the main protocol including Novell 6. Sadly, i dont want to upgrade my server just because of wireless as the server runs beautifully....if it aint broke dont fix it......but if i have no choice then i may have to as wireless is very handy for increasing workstation numbers without excessive cabling.

I thought that the new cards would probably only support IP but no literature anywhere has pointed to this specifically, not what i have seen anyway.
