Have a client with a novell server, the hardware is about 8 years old. Drives are squealing badly now and all hardware is getting replaced. I've already changed the nic to a pci 10baseT. Currently the sys volume sits on a scsi drive and vol1/vol2 are on separate ide drives. Vol2 doesn't get mounted at all.

It's been awhile since i've gotten down and dirty with netware but no time like the present. I plan to ghost the drives over to new ide drives (done this with 4.11, should work the same with 3.12). Shouldn't be a problem as the ide drivers are already loading.

Couple of questions tho. Does anyone have any solid information on upgrading to 3.2 (she has the upgrade, never got installed). Also, I recall stretching partitions within novell, looking for some information on this too. currently she has about 1.5 gigs on all drives, like to boost this.

Any other problems that I may run into?

Thanks

My advice.

BACKUP THE DATA,
BACKUP THE SYSTEM FILES,

INSTALL NETWARE 5 OR 6 WITH THE CURRENT SERVICE SERVICE PACKS.

THERE IS A LOT MORE FLEXABILITY AND FEWER HEADACHES IN THE FUTURE.

By the way. to stretch the drives, use partition magic. and the upgrades from 3.11 to 3.12 should be the same as the installation.

Job was finished as of this morning. the company is used to 3.12 and all works fine. upgrading is not in the budget.

thanks for the reply
