Nothing will print except test page

In windows XP home I can not print anything but the test page after I reinstalled the driver.
It will print the first time for this test page after install.
I can not print from note pad, word, photoshop, etc.
The printer acts like it is printing...progress says it is printing but nothing comes out on the sheet. There is ink in the printer.
I have reinstalled the driver twice and did with all extentions and virus protection off.
Any suggestions?

It is connect to Win XP and it is a lexmark.
It is my sister's computer whom I was on the phone trying to help. I am glad to say that she has gotten it to work.
One of those crazy things with computers....she turned it off...then started again the next day to figure it out and it worked the first time.

The Answer to this issue is as simple as your solution (the restart of windows).

Something with your spooler-service went wrong.
A stopping of the spooler, deleting of jobs in queue and restarting of spooler, would bring the same effect as restarting windows.

Q:But why did you testpage print?
A:The windows testpage does not make use of the spool-service! What kind of testpage would it be, when it would make use of the spooler? When spooler hangs, then no testpage would print, but this does not mean that you printer-driver would be defect. So MS made a good choice not to use the spooler for printing the driver-testpage!
