Hi, I have over 100 users using the internet to access Lotus Notes. They are experiencing some problems when sending messages. They claim that some emails are coming through blank. They type the message and click on send, it goes through but when the person receives it, it's blank. Does that sound like a familiar problem to anyone? The people using the Notes client are not having this problem.

Thanks
Kathy

For what it's worth, at least one of my users is reporting the same problem. He is on a win98 laptop running i-notes thru IE5.5sp2. It seems to be sporadic as he can successfully email me and others. Problem usually involves an internet address. Too early to tell if it is just one address or several. Not too helpful but at least you know someone else has the same problems

Thanks for the response. Please keep me posted if you figure out what causes it and how to correct it. I only have two people who reported this, but they're the ones that scream the loudest.
Thanks

We had this problem before and in our case the users entered the contents in the subject field and did not tab to the message body. They did not notice that the full message was created in the subject field. When the recipient gets the email the body is blank because nothing was entered and the subject field is limited in the amount of characters so they just see a small portion. I never had a complaint since I sent a FYI to the Notes users.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, this is really strange. The email comes across blank but when you click reply with history the original email that didn't show up, shows up. I just don't know what to make of that.

I've seen two problems using iNotes that may be relevant. The first was that when going to the Inbox view, it wouldn't display the list of mails held there at all. This was fixed by going to Add/Remove programs and choosing to remove IE5.5, but the choosing repair from the options that are given.

The second problem I have experienced was with mails from External senders would not display in iNotes, but showed up fine in the Standard Client. I was using 5.010 on the server and I replaced the Forms5.nsf file with a new one from 5.011. This appears to have rectified this problem.

Hope this may be of help.

Thank you so much for your help. I don't know if this makes a difference but these people only access Notes through the internet, they don't have the client on their machines. Now if I replace the forms.nsf file, how do I go about doing that? I just find it on the 5.011 cd and copy it into the existing Notes directory? I don't do Notes too much so I don't want to mess up anything.

Thanks

Hi KB

If you want to replace the forms5.nsf file you need to copy it at the Server. At the console "tell HTTP quit" and the you should be able to copy the original file using Windows Explorer. Put it in a temp directory incase you need/want to revert back to it if you find that there is no improvement. Copy the new version over the original. The file goes on the server in \lotus\domino\data\inotes I think (im not in the office at the moment). If it's not, I think that there is only one copy so you will find it. Once you have replaced the file remember to "load HTTP" at the console again.

I've gone through all of my 5.0.11 CD's that I have and there's no file called forms5.nsf. I did find it on the server right where you said it would be but not on the CD. Which CD did you use? Our server is running 5.0.10 and I was going to put the file from 5.0.11 to replace the old one.

Thanks

You may have to install the server software onto a spare pc temporarily. If you have a pc that you can wipe after, this is how I would do it. I dont know of another way to expand the Lotus ".CAB" files to get the .nsf out.

Remember this may not be the answer anyhow, so dont go blowing away a good pc to do this unless you are not going to cause yourself too much grief.

Thanks so much for your help. I finally had to call Lotus Notes for support. I didn't have an extra machine around to try your suggestions. They told me that it was in the person document under mail, prefers incoming mail, those user experiencing the problem had MIME format so I had to change it to no preference. So far so good.
